Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has stated clearly that there will be no more free food for Ghanaians after lifting the partial lockdown.
President Akufo-Addo lifted the partial lockdown imposed on some parts of the country during his 7th address to the nation on Sunday, April 19,2020.
Government started distributing meals to Ghanaians in lockdown areas amidst Coronavirus outbreak in the country after issuing the lockdown order.
The meals were distributed to lessen the burden on poor households during the lockdown. Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah commenting on this in an interview on Peace FM ‘kokrokoo’ show, he revealed that since the partial lockdown has been lifted, there will be no longer free food.
“.. . but the free water and electricity which the President assured Ghanaians in his previous address is still in force for three months,” he said.
Although the President has lifted the lockdown imposed on Accra,Tema, Kumasi and Kasoa, he urged all Ghanaians to adhered to the measures put in place to half the spread of the disease.
