It has become so obvious that Coronavirus is not a respecter of persons.
This deadly virus does not know if you are rich or you are very poor. Once you disobey the safety directive, it will attack you without any delay.
Lately, it can be attested that COVID-19 has now eyed the New Patriotic Party (NPP) top ranking members.
Here are some top-ranking members of the New Patriotic Party NPP who are at the mercy of deadly Coronavirus.
1. Kwaku Agyemang-Manu
He is one of the top-ranking members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the incumbent minister of Health.
Kwaku Agyeman Manu is a Member of Parliament (MP) for Dormaa Central in the Bono Region of Ghana.
Sadly, President Nana Akufo-Addo announced during one of his addresses to the nation that the honorable minister has contracted the deadly coronavirus while discharging his duties.
The good is that hon. Agyeman Manu is receiving treatment at the University of Ghana ultra-modern health facility.
2. Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie
Affectionately called ‘Sir John’, he’s has been a strong pillar of the ruling government who served the party as General Secretary between 2010 and 2014 but lost his bid to secure a second term.
Sadly, Sir John died of Coronavirus this week but until his death, he appointed was by President Akufo-Addo as the CEO Forestry Commission in March 2017.
3. Carlos Kingsley Ahenkorah
He’s the Member of Parliament of Tema West constituency who doubled as deputy minister for Trade and Industry.
As a top-ranking member of the governing party, Hon. Carlos Ahenkorah has also been knocked down by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Although he’s receiving treatment, the honorable member of parliament was spotted monitoring the on-going compilation of the new voter’s register at various centers. Let’s hope he’s not spreading the virus.
4. Peter Mac Manu
He previously served as the National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party from December 2005 to February 2010 but currently serving as the campaign manager for President Nana Addo Akufo-Addo.
Peter Mac Manu played an integral role during the 2016 general elections which eventually paid off as his party won massively.
Sadly, the icy hand of COVID-19 grabbed him and he’s battling for his life at the Korle-Bu teaching hospital in the capital.
At the time of this article write-up, the confirmed cases in Ghana are 18,134 with recovery at 13,550 and 117 deaths.
Now, the baffling question is, has the coronavirus targeted only top-ranking members of the New Patriotic Party only? What could be the reason?
