Press Conference by the Diaspora Progressive Movement on the 4 Takoradi Girls: Mr President, Don’t Close the Docket Yet.
Good morning Ladies and Gentlemen of the press. Thank you for coming.
Normally, in a murder case like the 4 Takoradi girls, when the suspects are in police custody and some or all of the bodies are found, the case takes a different dimension. The case starts getting cold and if the suspects are found guilty, they are punished accordingly and eventually, the docket is closed. But in the case of these 4 Takoradi girls, the case is not close to being over and we plead with the President not to close the docket so fast. There are more Ghanaians want to know.
We members of the Diaspora Progressive Movement associate ourselves with the families of these girls and call on the President to get to the bottom of the case because there are so many questions to where we are now than answers. We still believe the children are not dead and with further investigations and sacrifices, the children would be found alive. We believe if the President should be bold enough to sacrifice some of his appointees by sacking them and replacing them with people who are willing to find the girls, the girls would be found.
We still believe that the CID Boss, Madam Tiwaah may know where the children are. We still believe Bryan Acheampong, if pressured, can tell us where the children are. We believe if the President instructs Rev. Owusu Bempah to show us where the children are, we will find the children. We believe if the Editor of the Daily Guide is investigated further, he will tell us which hospital the children were receiving treatment. We believe somebody associated with Nana Addo’s administration knows where these children are. We believe it was not for nothing that those mentioned above told us that they knew where the children were.
We are pleading with the President to set aside Maame Tiwaah and Bryan Acheampong, appoint new investigators to investigate both Rev. Owusu Bempah and the Editor of the Daily Guide. The new investigators should treat both Maame Tiwaah and Bryan Acheampong as persons of interest to help in the investigations. We want to help the President to get to the bottom of these 4 Takoradi girls, so at the end of the day, the family and the government will be fully satisfied with the outcome of the investigations.
We believe that so long as Maame Tiwaah and Bryan Acheampong remain at post, Rev. Owusu Bempah and the Editor of the Daily Guide have not been called to question on the whereabouts of these children, any outcome of any investigations will not meet the satisfaction of the families and the people of Ghana.
In conclusion, we think the four Takoradi girls can be found alive if the President would be bold enough and sacrifice Maame Tiwaah and Bryan Acheampong. The President should not close the docket of these 4 girls until proper and thorough investigations are done that will get to the bottom of the case. Scratching the surface of the investigations with the found bones will not heal the pain of the families. We will describe that as a failure of the government of his duties and responsibilities.
Signed:
Dr. Lawrence
