President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in his popular 11th address to the nation has revealed that his government has distributed over six thousand (6,000) face masks to tertiary institutions in the country.
There were concerns raised by key Educationists after Akufo-Addo in his last coronavirus address to the nation has eased restriction of schools, permitting all final year students in both the high schools and tertiary institutions to return to school.
They warned that the confirmed cases of COVID-19 is likely to escalate if the government does not provide enough Personal Protection Equipments (PPEs) to these institutions.
But, in his 11th address to the nation on Sunday night, June 14, 2020, President Akufo-Addo mentioned that the government has distributed over 6,000 face masks to the tertiary institutions.
This means that there will be enough face masks for both lecturers and non-teaching staff in all tertiary institutions.
He said;
“… Government through the Ministry of Education has distributed six thousand face masks to all tertiary institutions in the country.”
