The Executive Director of Alliance for Social Equity and Public Accountability (ASEPA) and Social Commentator, Mensah Thompson says Ghanaians should brace up themselves for a 5th republic.
Mr. Thompson’s comment comes after a Supreme Court ruling a few minutes ago that says the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Madam Jean Adukwei Mensah will not be mounting the witness box to be cross-examined by Lawyer Tsatsu Tsikata, the lead counsel for the petitioner in the ongoing 2020 election petition, John Dramani Mahama.
However, the ASEPA boss seems to have a problem with the posture of the court and its justices.
He said the way the Supreme Court and its seven justices are handling the case is worrying.
“You see it is not even the misguided rulings of the Court that is even worrying but the nature of unanimity and United thoughts with which it is presented to us.
It’s almost as if the whip system that is being forced out of our Parliament is now finding its way to our Supreme Court!,” he wrote in a Facebook post sighted by Ghana Vanguard a minute after it was made.
He furthered that; “The pulse of this Country keep being tested to the brim, some way some how we seem to be surviving it but I for sure that one day one day we won’t!”
He concluded by advising Ghanaians to be brave as he says the 4th republic, which is the most stable in the history of the country is undoubtedly at the verge of collapse.
“The 5th Republic is definitely be upon us…brave up folks!!!”
