Flashback: I’ll Protect The Public Purse – President Akufo-Addo

On January 9, 2017, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo had openly pledged to protect and manage the public purse.

Speaking at his 2017 Inaugural Ceremony in Accra he said, money should be made in the private sector and not in the public sector.

According to him, he’ll ensure corruption does not exist in the public sector by putting stringent measures in place to protect the public purse.

And he also added that protecting the public purse will engender the necessary social and economic development.

He said as monitored by www.Ghface.com;

“I shall protect the public purse by insisting on value for money in all public transactions. Public service is just that — service and not an avenue for making money.

Money is to be made in the private sector, not the public. Measures will be put in place to ensure this.”

“We will reduce taxes and ensure that the private sector flourishes and Ghanaians are able to survive in terms of business.”

Now, back to 2021, the question many are asking is whether or not President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo had indeed protected the public purse?

His Excellency Nana Addo has been given a second term mandate and could this be that he has satisfactorily saved the purse?
