President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in his 11th Coronavirus address to the nation has revealed that the Ghana Police Force has been tasked to ensure the compulsory wearing of Face Masks by every Ghanaians.
Speaking on Sunday night, June 14, 2020, the First Gentleman of the land stated loud and clear that it is now a civil offence to go out without wearing a face mask.
The President also added that the Police force have been instructed to arrest anyone who goes out on the street with no face mask.
What this means is that any citizen who will go in pursuit of his or her duties must make sure that they are wearing a face mask whatsoever.
However, failure to wear a face mask before going is an offence and the Police can arrest you for defying the President’s directive.
Akufo-Addo stressed he and his government doing all these things to be able to curtail the spread of the deadly Coronavirus.
He said;
“… not wearing a face mask is an offence. The Police has been instructed to ensure this directive is being carried out.”
Meanwhile, Akufo-Addo through the Ministry of Education has distributed six thousand face masks to all tertiary institutions in the country.
