Osei Kyei-Mensah Bonsu appointed ‘Interim Finance Minister’

The Majority Leader of Parliament and Member of Parliament for Suame Constituency, Mr. Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu has been appointed as the interim minister of Finance by the President.

Osei Kyei-Mensah Bonsu’s appointment was contained in a letter addressed to the Speaker of Parliament. Rt. Hon. Alan Bagbin from the Presidency dated March 11, 2021.

According to the president, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu will handle the finance ministry as a temporal responsibility for the meantime until the arrival of Ken Ofori Atta who is currently in the US seeking medical care following post-COVID-19 complications.

“I write respectfully to inform you that, pursuant to Order 140 Rules 2 and 3, of the Standing Orders of Parliament, I have assigned temporarily responsibility for the Ministry of Finance to the Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, Member of Parliament for Suame,” the letter, as read by Alban Bagbin said.
