Over 14,000 Police personnel deployed for Easter festivities

Over 14,000 police personnel have been deployed across the country for this year’s Easter celebrations.

Commissioner of Police (COP) George Alex Mensah, disclosed this to the media today.

According to him, 500 police personnel will also be deployed mainly to Kwahu to support the Eastern Regional Command during the Easter festival to ensure security and order in that part of the country.

100 men are also to be deployed to the Ashanti Regional Capital to ensure security during the activities marking the 20th anniversary of the enstoolment of the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Ashantehene this weekend.

The beaches, convention center, churches, public places including pubs and restaurants will also be protected by the Police personnel.

The personnel will be selected from units such as the Special Weapon Tactics (SWAT), Rapid Deployment Force, Motor Traffic and Transport Department, Counter Terrorism Unit, Highway Patrols, Formed Police Unit, and Marine Police Unit (MPU), among others.
