National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo has declared Member of Parliament for Korle Klottey Constituency, Dr. Zanetor Agyemang Rawlings as the soul of the biggest opposition party.
According to Mr. Ampofo, the medical trained doctor turned legislator deserves the support of every member of the Party to secure a second term bid because “beyond her competency and sterling performance, she is the daughter of our only founder, Flt Lt Jerry John Rawlings.”
“Our Constitution says this Party was founded on the ideals of Flt Lt Jerry John Rawlings, our founder. We have only one founder and he is Rawlings. He is our founder and the daughter is Dr. Zanetor Rawlings our MP. So Zanetor represents the soul of NDC,” Mr. Ampofo explained.
Speaking at an event to launch the second term bid of Dr. Zanetor at 5 Junction in Osu, the NDC Chairman warned supporters of the Party against voting skirt and blouse, saying “John Mahama needs more MPs in Parliament to prosecute his agenda when he wins.”.
He said, aside from working to annex the Presidency, “every member of the Party must not make any mistake by voting skirt and blouse. We need a majority in Parliament and that is the only way Mahama will succeed as President.”
“Anybody who will be caught campaigning skirt and blouse will be treated as an enemy of the Party,” the former Local Government Minister warned.
On her part, Dr. Zanetor recounts some of her achievements and highlighted salient portions of the NDC’s manifesto, saying it’ll be in the interest of Ghanaians to help bring the NDC back to power.
She urged supporters of the Party to put the past behind them and unite for victory as that is the only way the country will prosper.
