Furious Jerry John Rawlings has descended heavily on some Asante youth group for threatening former president John Dramani Mahama.
In a Facebook post sighted by Fnnewsroom.com, angry Rawlings has cautioned the so-called Asante youth group to desist from threatening the Mahama.
His call comes on the back of a press statement which was released from the office of the former president, John Dramani Mahama denying the Asantehene’s involvement in then President Mahama’s decision to concede defeat in the 2016 polls.
The press release infuriated some youth in the Ashanti region who hurriedly took turns to threaten John Dramani Mahama.
To this effect, JJ Rawlings took to his official Facebook page to call for calm among other things.
To the aggrieved youth, he said they have no right to threaten a former president.
He also urged John Dramani Mahama to find a way of settling issues with Otumfuo.
He posted;
“Fellow citizens, when the dust settles on the issue of President Mahama and Otumfuo, I hope we finally recognise how utterly inappropriate it is for a youth group and other politically blinded persons to send threats to a former president of the nation.
I trust our loyalty to party colours has not blighted our traditional reverence for leadership.
Let us also hope that President Mahama will find a way of sorting this out with the Asantehene as he has offered to. And I hope the youth will receive the appropriate reprimand at the end of it all. – JJR”
