The Assembly Member for Anlo Afiadenyigba Dziehe-Ablame Electoral Area in the Volta Region, Mr. Gilbert Korbla Keklie is calling on the Special Prosecutor, Mr. Martin Amidu to resign from office over what he described as drawing huge salaries from the state but doing nothing.
In a press release copied Awake News, Mr. Keklie said, “Prior to 2016, Mr. Martin Amidu who was once a Minister in the previous NDC administration, made uncountable allegations and counter-allegations against H. E. John Dramani Mahama and for which reason Ghanaians had so much interest in the works of Mr. Amidu as someone who was ready to fight corruption especially amongst political officers. I am however totally shocked from the vetting time of Mr. Amidu to date.”
“When Mr. Amidu was asked during his vetting if he could provide some evidence to support all his allegations and counter-allegations made against the former President, his reply was that the allegations were without any evidence.” – He added
The vociferous and anti-corruption crusader lamented that it is almost “three years now since Mr. Amidu was appointed as the Special Prosecutor, series of petitions including the contract for sale, corruption under the fight against illegal mining, the missing of GHC200,000 meant for the construction of Anloga Community Town Hall but Mr. Amidu is just sleeping on his job and withdrawing salary from the consolidated account of Ghana every month even though his office was fully resourced to deal with petitions before him.”
To the total amazement of the youth leader, “Clearly a month ago and to the surprise of Ghanaians including me, Mr. Martin Amidu had turned into a reviewer of a book authored and launched by one Prof. Kwamena Ahwoi”
This is said is the total neglect of the duties of the Special Prosecutor on the face of the countless corruption scandal and associated petitions before him for which he has failed to perforce thus calling for his immediate resignation.

Press Statement
For Immediate Release
MR. MARTIN AMIDU SHOULD RESIGN WITH IMMEDIATE EFFECT .
Friends in the media, we could all recall that in 2018, the President of the Republic appointed Mr. Martin Amidu as the first Special Prosecutor in the fulfilment of their 2016 Manifesto promise.
Prior to the 2016, Mr. Martin Amidu who was once a Minister in the previous NDC administration made uncountable allegations and counter-allegations against H. E. John Dramani Mahama and for which reason Ghanaians had so much interest in the works of Mr. Amidu as someone who was ready to fight corruption, especially amongst political officers.. I am however totally shocked from the vetting time of Mr. Amidu to date.
When Mr. Amidu was asked during his vetting if he could provide some evidence to support all his allegations and counter-allegations made against the former President, his reply was that the allegations were without any evidence.
Getting to three years now since Mr. Amidu was appointed as the Special Prosecutor, series of petitions including the contract for sale, corruption under the fight against illegal mining, the missing of GHC200,000 meant for the construction of Anloga Community Town Hall but Mr. Amidu is just sleeping on his job and withdrawing salary from the consolidated account of Ghana every month even though his office was fully resourced to deal with petitions before him.
Clearly a month ago and to the surprise of Ghanaians including me, Mr. Martin Amidu had turned into a reviewer of a book authored and launched by one Prof. Kwamena Ahwoi (https://www.graphic.com.gh/features/opinion/kwamena-ahwoi-s-working-with-rawlings-martin-amidu-s-critique-iv.html) .
Friends in the media, Mr. Amidu was once crying for the passage of the Rights to Information Bill and same was unanimously passed by all Members of Ghana’s Parliament to support his work but he has still abandoned his work. He is only interested in reviewing Prof. Ahwoi’s book.
Friends in the media, with the above assertions, I have come to the realization that Mr. Martin Amidu as well as the current government that appointed him are not ready to fight corruption.
This is because Mr. Amidu is withdrawing salary from the consolidated account for no work done while he is busily reviewing people’s books with the government enjoying the reviews.
I humbly, therefore, call on Mr. Amidu to resign since he has totally disappointed Ghanaians.
When Mr. Amidu is out, he may now have more time to continue reviewing Prof. Ahwoi’s book.
Thank you all.
……..SIGNED…….
