The entire Ajumako Enyan Essiam Constituency has been turned into a ‘ghost town’ following the declaration of candidate Akufo Addo as President-elect in the 2020 elections to continue with another four-year term.
The area, which is one of the strongholds of the opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC) in the Central Region went silent unlike other parts of the country moments after President Akufo Addo was declared winner.
Residents told Kasapa News Yaw Boagyan that they would have prefered the NDC rather won the election.
“You haven’t seen us jubilating because the NPP victory was not what we were looking forward to. You would seen massive celebration if John Dramani Mahama won the elections.”
Food vendors and drivers are also working normally without any celebration.
Meanwhile, there is heavy Security patrols in the streets of Ajumako Enyan Essiam Constituency to ensure law and order.
Meanwhile, John Dramani Mahama won in the Ajumako Enyan Essiam Constituency with 35,161 as against 31,576 to Nana Akuffo Addo.
In the Parliamentary elections, the NDC’s Ato Forson secured 39,229 votes as against the NPP’s Dr. Rashid Kwesi Etuaful who garnered 28,669.
