The Convention People’s Party (CPP) has joined the Progressive Peoples Party (PPP), to cry bitterly over the GH¢100,000 presidential filing fee announced by the Electoral Commission (EC).
The Electoral Commission of Ghana headed by Jean Mensa has pegged the 2020 presidential election filing fee at GH¢100,000 without holding any consultation with the various political parties in the country.
But, speaking on an Accra-based Joy FM, the General Secretary, Nana Yaa Juantuah says the amount being charged by the EC is too much as compared to the various election.
Again, she has wondered why the EC would leave the parliamentary filing fee at the same level (GH¢10,000)?
She said;
“Whatever it is, we should know the reason for the increase. Why did they leave the parliamentary one at the same level (GH¢10,000)?
Meanwhile, Presidential and parliamentary aspirants for December 7, 2020, Elections in Ghana are to file their nomination from October 5th to 9th, 2020, the Electoral Commission (EC) has announced.
