Dec Polls: Hawa Koomson retains Awutu Senya East seat

Mavis Hawa Koomson has retained the Awutu Senya East parliamentary seat for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at the just ended December 7 poll.

The Minister for Special Development Initiative beats the parliamentary candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Naa Koryoo Okunor in a tight race.

The Provisional results obtained revealed that Hawa Koomson polled 57, 114 votes while Naa Koryoo Okunor gathered 51,561 votes. 

As things stand now, about 5,553 votes have separated the candidates, while waiting for the Electoral Commission (EC) to release the certified results.

Hon. Hawa Koomson has secured her third parliament appearance on the ticket of New Patriotic Party (NPP) with the first being 2012.
