NDC Suspends Elections In Volta, Oti Regions Indefinitely

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced that regional elections in the Volta and Oti regions will be held at a later date.

No reason was given to that effect.

In a statement issued by General Secretary Johnson Asiedu Nketia, new dates will be communicated in due course.

The statement on Wednesday, April 24, however, noted that changes have been made to the process in some of the six new regions.

“The new date for the vetting is Friday, 26th – Saturday, 27th April, 2019 for all affected regions, except Western Region and the Western North Region, which has been scheduled to take place on Wednesday 1st– Thursday, 2nd May, 2019.”

The change in dates for the vetting is said to have been necessitated by the Easter holidays.
