Police harass Citi TV Journalist in Traffic in search of weapons and drugs

Citi TV Journalist, Umaru Sanda Amadu has been harassed by Officer from the Ghana Police Service in traffic in search for weapons and drugs in the early hours of Saturday, January 2, 2021.

In a YouTube post Umaru said “On 2nd January, 2021, I was driving when occupants of a police patrol car ordered me to pull over. I did. They approached and insisted on searching my car for drugs and weapons.

I obliged, on condition that they let me film the process.

They objected but I insisted. In the course of the search which was interlaced with verbal abuse and the subsequent seizure of my phone, the armed policemen subjected my car and myself to the most thorough search I have ever witnessed.

I do not object to police searches. But it must not be done with intimidation, harassment and humiliation like they did to me near the Kwame Nkrumah Circle today. Watch the attached video.”
